(200) The Council Meets Again

Matthew 27:1-2, Mark 15:1, Luke 22:66-71

[A]Early that morning, as soon as it was day, all the chief priests held a consultation with the scribes and the elders of the people. The whole Council met together against Jesus, intending to put Him to death. And they led Him into their council, saying, [B]“Are you the Christ? Tell us.”

“If I tell you,” He said to them, “you will not believe; [C]and if I ask you, you will not answer me or let me go. [D]Hereafter the Son of Man will sit on the right hand of the power of God.”

[E]At this, they all said, “Are you then the Son of God?”

And Jesus said to them, “You rightly say that I am.”

[F]And they said, “We don’t need any further witness, do we? For we have heard it ourselves from His own mouth.”

[G]So they bound Him, led Him away, and delivered Him to Pontius Pilate the governor.
