(31) Jesus Goes to Live in Capernaum

Matthew 4:13-17, Mark 1:14b-15, Luke 4:31-32

    ALeaving Nazareth, He went to live in Capernaum, which is by the sea in the regions of Zebulun and Naphtali. BThis fulfilled what was spoken by Isaiah the prophet:


CThe land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles: DThe people who sat in darkness saw a great light. And upon those who sat in the region, in the shadow of death, light has dawned.1


    ESo Jesus came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee. He taught them on the Sabbaths, Fand the people were astonished at His doctrine; for He spoke with power. GHe came preaching the good news of the kingdom of God, Hsaying, “The time is fulfilled. Repent and believe the gospel, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

13 And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim: 14 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, 15 The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles; 16 The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up. 17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

14b Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, 15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
