(55) False Prophets

Matthew 7:15-23, Luke 6:43-45

[A] “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. [B]You will know them by their fruits, for a good tree does not produce corrupt fruit; neither does a bad tree bear good fruit. For every tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs and grapes from briars and thornbushes. [C]A good man produces good things from the good stored up in his heart. And an evil man produces evil from a heart that has treasured up evil. For whatever the heart is full of will overflow out of his mouth. [D]Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and cast into the fire. [E]Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

[F]“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father in heaven. [G]Many will say to me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and in your name done many wonderful works?’ [H]And then I will declare to them: I never knew you; depart from me, you who practice iniquity.”

(55) False Prophets

Matthew 7:15-23, KJV

15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. 21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

(55) False Prophets

Luke 6:43-45, KJV

43 For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 44 For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes. 45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
